lynda3Inspiration is creatively expressed through the witness of those who celebrate life with authentic enthusiasm and confidence.  Lynda Coleman’s Facebook fan page, Art from the Heart, invites others to experience joy and passion for living.

She is an artist from Austin, Texas who has been painting since the age of five.  Lynda is not only a professional visual artist; she is a poet, a self-published author of two poetry books, and a Minister of the Gospel.

Lynda worked for the City of Austin Parks & Recreation Department for seven years as an activity specialist within the after-school care program and summer camps.  She was also an advocate/mentor to youth in the juvenile probation systems in Travis and Williamson counties.  She invited teens to take part in her positive art workshops, including Totally Cool, Totally Art.

lyndacolemanprayerLynda began developing her own community projects with the youth in 2001.  She created Lynda Coleman’s Art from the Heart Workshops.  Hundreds of youth (ages 3-17) took part in the workshops.  They experienced art instruction and were inspired to follow their dreams and goals. Lynda’s annual Art, Poetry & Networking Conference celebrates its 17th birthday in November. This conference is a platform for youth and adults to share their creative gifts and talents through song, praise dance, poetry, Gospel rap, and art.

Lynda’s art and poetry reflect love, joy, peace, and healing to hurting souls. She longs to touch people’s lives with art and poetry.  Her work reminds everyone that they are loved by God.  Lynda explains, “God continues to encourage me to reach out to youth and families that may not have a voice for themselves.”

Lynda’s active commitment to at-risk youth and families includes advocacy, case management, crisis support, mentoring, parent coaching, and tutoring. She celebrates her 26th year as an art exhibitor on Saturday, September 14th.  Discover more of Lynda’s work at www.zazzle.com/LyndaColeman.
